TECNIS Synergy™ Lens

TECNIS Synergy™ Intraocular Lenses

The TECNIS Synergy™ lens is a Breakthrough Innovation in vision restoration for cataract patients. Based on the latest technology, the Synergy™ Continuous-Range-of-Vision Lens sets a new standard for intraocular lenses, outperforming other multifocal lenses for superior vision at all distances and in low light settings.

Hattiesburg Eye Clinic surgeons were among the first in the nation, and the first in the state of Mississippi, to provide the TECNIS Synergy™ lens for their cataract patients.

Intraocular Lenses: Restoring Vision After Cataracts

Cataracts occur when the natural eye lens calcifies and clouds over. The only way to restore clearer, sharper vision is to remove the clouded lens and replace it with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL).

Early IOLs were monofocal lenses that corrected vision at a single focal point, usually for distance. Although “far” vision improved, these IOLs couldn’t address “near” vision—most patients still needed corrective lenses for close or mid-range viewing.

The development of multifocal IOLs improved vision for different distances. Advanced versions could even improve focus at all distances—near, intermediate and far—resulting in a high percentage of patients who no longer required glasses.

For all these improvements, though, multifocal IOLs still had some potential weaknesses. Many patients had difficulty seeing clearly at night or in low-light conditions. They also experienced a “halo” effect around bright objects like headlights or street lights. And they encountered gaps in their focusing ability when moving from one range of distance to another.

Higher Satisfaction With The Tecnis Synergy™ Lens

Through its unique technology, the new TECNIS Synergy™ Continuous-Range-of-Vision Lens vastly improves these common shortfalls found with multifocal lenses. Clinical studies show that the Synergy™ lens can:

  • Eliminate focusing gaps, providing a broader range of continuous vision.
  • Provide exceptional visual acuity at night and during low-light conditions.
  • Reduce halo effect intensity through advanced violet light-filtering technology.

The new TECNIS Synergy™ IOL is fast gaining popularity among cataract patients. In post-treatment surveys, patients receiving the Synergy™ IOL registered higher levels of satisfaction than those fitted with the leading trifocal lens.
