Odyssey IOL

Like other multifocal IOLs, Odyssey™ has several points of focus that accommodate vision at different distances. But what sets this new TECNIS lens apart from other multifocal lenses are a few advanced features incorporated into its design.

• Odyssey™ marries its multifocal design with extended depth of focus (EDOF) technology. An EDOF lens contains one elongated focal point that allows for sharper focus over a wider range of distances, particularly up close. With both technologies in one lens, patients gain the multifocal advantage of better visual sharpness at various distances, while the EDOF component smooths out the transitions from one distance to another.
• The Odyssey™ IOL contains achromatic technology. This advanced element corrects problems associated with attempting to focus on different wavelengths of light at the same time. The result: better visual contrast even in low-light conditions.
• Odyssey™ improves on digital optimization. In simple terms, this means the surgeon can “fine-tune” the lens to match a patient’s optical profile. Doing so increases the opportunities for a patient to achieve the best vision possible.

And as with the other TECNIS IOLs offered by Hattiesburg Eye Clinic, Odyssey™ lenses can also include components to correct astigmatism, an abnormal shape of the cornea. Within the TECNIS family of lenses, this common refractive problem no longer poses an obstacle to clear, sharp vision after cataract surgery.
